Richard Payne reports on Hibernian’s season, a success story in a league still dominated by Glasgow City. Having lost a host of experienced players in the close season, Hibs turned to youth rather than established replacements and were rewarded with a scintillating campaign, sitting second and in the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Midfielder Joelle Murray says they were written off, promoted from their own youth teams and brought in promising youngsters from elsewhere, and have surprised people because no expectations were placed on them. She calls team spirit the key and this the best season she has been involved with at the club. She points to a youth academy that produced Kim Little and more recently Caroline Weir before their moves to Arsenal, and names Lizzie Arnot as an amazing talent to watch.
