Player Interview — Gemma Fay

Catherine Etoe talks to the Celtic goalkeeper and Scotland captain fifteen years after her international debut, now the most-capped Scottish player of all time and, this year, an actor. Gemma Fay won rave reviews as referee Shona in the comedy drama Rubenesque, a job she landed by emailing two lines in reply to a casting call sent to the Scottish FA. Her Celtic team-mates now call her Shona Baby and threw her a surprise premiere with a red carpet, mock paparazzi and popcorn. She attended the Scottish BAFTAs with Hayley Lauder and Jane Ross as guests of BBC Alba. On football she calls Celtic’s season trying, welcomes Scottish Government funding that lets her drop to part-time work, and jokes about acquiring a Brazil shirt in Marta’s absence.
