Player Focus — Jayne Ludlow
She Kicks, issue SK11, November 2012 p.24
Catherine Etoe speaks to Jayne Ludlow after the 33-year-old Wales captain ended a sixteen-year international career that began against the Republic of Ireland at 17 and closed against Scotland in September, leaving her the country’s second all-time scorer and fourth all-time cap holder with 61 caps and 19 goals. She explains that two years of on-and-off injury, including tears to both calf muscles, mean she must be sensible about what she puts her body through if she is to keep playing club football. She names her first cap and promotion from B group as highlights, praises the changed attitude to the women’s game in Wales, and is working through her A Licence.
