She Kicks, issue 85, July 2024 pp.19–20

Ahead of the Paris Olympics, former Colombia international Isabella Echeverri, now a studio analyst for Telemundo Deportes, assesses her old team’s injury concerns and evolving style under interim coach Ángelo Marsiglia. She weighs up the goalkeeping dilemma left by Cata Pérez’s ACL injury, the fitness of Leicy Santos, and the fallout from Ana María Guzmán’s lengthy absence following her Bayern Munich move. Echeverri, who represented Colombia at the Rio 2016 Olympics and later spoke out publicly against gender discrimination in the national game alongside teammate Melissa Ortiz, also reflects on how conditions for players have improved since her own playing days, from FIFA international windows to better logistical support, while noting how far there still is to go on travel and pay.
