Other British Players Who Have Played in Italy, 1970s-1990s (boxed reference panel)

A boxed reference panel inside the Foreign Kicks feature, listing by decade the British players who preceded the current three in Italian football. The 1970s entries are Rose Reilly, at Milan and Jolly Cutispoti Catania, and Sue Lopez MBE at Roma. The 1980s bring Debbie Bampton MBE to Trani 80, Kerrie Davies to Roi Lazio, Trani 80 and Napoli, and Sian Williams to Juve Siderno, with Reilly moving through Alaska Lecce, Alaska Trani 80, Napoli Select, Firenze Casa ’77 and Oltrarno Firenze. The 1990s list Reilly at Prato Sport Bari and Agliana. A footnote sets out her 1978-79 season, when she won championships in Italy and France at once, playing for Lecce on Saturday nights and flying to Reims for Sunday afternoons. The panel sits beside a fact-file on Verona goalkeeper Rachel Harrison, Edinburgh-born, formerly of Spartans, a Bolton Wanderers supporter whose favourite player growing up was Gianluigi Buffon.
