Opta Stats: WSL 1 Stat Attack (mid-season 2014)

A two-page statistical review of the first half of the 2014 FA WSL 1 season, compiled with data from Opta. The tables set out each club’s record across goal attempts, passing, crossing, defending and discipline, with a rank against the other seven sides for every measure. Categories include games played, goals and average goals per game, shots excluding blocked shots, percentage of shots on target and goals to shots, total passes and overall pass completion, passes and completion in the final third, long passes, total crosses and cross completion, goals conceded, tackles and tackles won, blocks, clearances and interceptions, shots faced, fouls and cards. The magazine notes that teams had played only a handful of games but that interesting trends were already appearing for those who want to study the numbers.
