On The Road To Wembley: SSE Women’s FA Cup 2018-19 Highlights
She Kicks, issue 52, March 2019 p.8
A round-by-round account of the 2018-19 SSE Women’s FA Cup as it reaches the quarter-finals. Crawley Wasps, AFC Wimbledon and Keynsham Town all eliminate higher-ranked sides in the third round, where Helen Ward takes Player of the Round for four goals in Watford’s 7-2 win at Middlesbrough and her head coach Armand Kavaja pays tribute to her influence on the club’s younger players. Fourth-round surprises include National League Huddersfield Town scoring three late goals at Championship Charlton Athletic before winning on penalties, and Manchester United knocking out Brighton. The fifth round brings a repeat of last season’s final as holders Chelsea beat Arsenal 3-0, Durham win 2-0 at Bristol City, Leanne Kiernan hits her first West Ham hat-trick, and Arsenal’s Ruby Grant takes Player of the Round for a hat-trick against Crawley in front of a sell-out 1,550 crowd.
