On The Move Player Interview: Marisa Ewers (Aston Villa Women)
She Kicks, issue 55, August 2019 p.47
Marisa Ewers moves from WSL Birmingham City to Championship Aston Villa in her fourth year in England, and takes on a backroom job at the same time as Villa’s Team Analysis and Operations Officer. The 30-year-old German defender and midfielder tells She Kicks that Villa is a huge club with a long history but real ambition for its women’s team, and that she knew the manager Gemma Davies as a coach beforehand. She hopes to lead team-mates and control the tempo of matches. Of a difficult previous season she is matter-of-fact: a dislocated shoulder cost her the first half, and in the second her speed of thought was appreciated by a side that finished fourth. Her team-mates, she notes, always called her the brain.
