On The Move Player Interview: Leandra Little (Sheffield United)

Leandra Little joins Sheffield United after a season at Liverpool, and tells She Kicks that a conversation with manager Carla Ward about the club’s vision and a push for promotion was what persuaded her. The 34-year-old Devon-born centre-back, who previously played for Lincoln and Doncaster Rovers Belles, wants to be a difficult defender to play against and to lead by example on standards off the pitch as well as on it. She is unusually open about why full-time football did not last: combining it with her job at The FA did not work because of the time away, and the job is where she sees longevity. She is also taking on an education lead role at Liverpool’s dual career academy. She once chose basketball over football, playing for England.
