On The Move Player Interview: Aoife Mannion (Manchester City Women)

Aoife Mannion talks to She Kicks after leaving Birmingham City for Manchester City, the same move Ellen White made in the same window. One of the WSL’s most highly regarded defenders and a PFA Team of the Year selection, the 23-year-old economics graduate says the appeal spoke for itself in trophies, and that a conversation with Nick Cushing simply felt right. She wants to be known for one-against-one defending and for building possession from the back. She is unusually candid about improvement, crediting a couple of shocking performances for showing her what to work on. Her summer took in a two-week UEFA B licence course through the PFA, a month with family in Ireland and a training regime run on forest trails.
