Official Kicks — Sarah Hobbs (Referee)
She Kicks, issue 17, October 2013 pp.46–47
An Official Kicks page with the London-based referee whose school put her on a course in Year 11 so she could pass a better understanding of the game to younger girls. Sarah Hobbs played as a centre forward for Wandsworth Westside Ladies and, while studying for A-levels, for Richmond upon Thames College as part of the Chelsea Ladies Academy, training five days a week. She is now a level 5 referee in the men’s game at Supply League level and a level 2 in the women’s game, refereeing regularly in the FA Women’s Premier League National Division, and works as marketing and communications officer at the London FA. She describes being threatened with a punch after a Sunday League game and ninety minutes of sexist abuse at an FA Vase tie, and quotes advice from Mike Riley.
