Four Lionesses took New Year honours, Leah Williamson an OBE and Beth Mead, Lucy Bronze and Ellen White MBEs, with Sarina Wiegman made a CBE and Sophie Ingle an OBE. A record 28,565 watched Newcastle United’s FA Cup tie at St James’ Park, Rangers beat Hibernian before a record Scottish cup crowd, and international transfers in the women’s game more than doubled since 2018.
