Name Changers
Her Goal, issue 3, February 2026 p.23
A single page on the New Year Honours List, which was full of Lionesses. Sarina Wiegman becomes an honorary dame after leading England to a second successive UEFA Women’s EURO title, while captain Leah Williamson, made an OBE three years earlier, is elevated to CBE. Keira Walsh, Ella Toone, Alex Greenwood and Georgia Stanway are all made MBEs. Kerry Davis, the former attacker recognised as the first Black player to represent England’s women’s team when she debuted in 1982, and who scored 43 goals in 90 games, also becomes an MBE. The page is illustrated with Wiegman after the EURO 2025 final win over Spain in Basel.
