Former Manchester City academy midfielder Millie Davies discusses trading WSL and Champions League football for the U.S. college system, having just completed her sophomore season at Hofstra University on Long Island. Davies explains how a serious hip injury during her time at City prompted the move, arranged with help from Go 2 College Soccer founder Jon Maloney, and how following in the footsteps of former Hofstra players Leah Galton and Amy Turner eased the transition. She recalls making her Champions League debut against Fiorentina and playing WSL football behind closed doors during the pandemic, being mentored by Alex Greenwood, and training alongside USA World Cup winners Sam Mewis, Rose Lavelle and Abby Dahlkemper. Still weighing a return to England against pursuing the NWSL, Davies urges young players considering a scholarship route not to be scared off by it.
