Midfield Duo’s Midlands Move (Jo Potter and Jade Moore interview)

England midfielders Jo Potter and Jade Moore became the first players in English women’s football to buy out their own contracts, leaving Birmingham City for Notts County. Potter, after seven years in a third spell at Blues, describes the most stressful weeks of her football life and a decision taken as much for her state of mind as her career; Moore, at twenty-five, wanted a step forward and turned down American clubs to stay in front of the national team management. Potter traces the economics of her career from unpaid subs at sixteen through twenty-five pounds a week at Arsenal to full-time professionalism, and both are frank about England being denied their Olympic place as Team GB.
