Meet the Gunners: Arsenal Ladies FA Women’s Cup Final squad profiles (as told by Emma Byrne)

Arsenal and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Emma Byrne gives a light-hearted run-down of her team-mates ahead of the FA Women’s Cup Final, after the Gunners came through a thrilling 5-3 extra-time semi-final against Chelsea at Woking’s Kingfield Stadium for a shot at a thirteenth title. Byrne describes manager Shelley Kerr as a get-down-to-business gaffer whose no-nonsense defending still shows in training, calls Alex Scott her sister from another mister after fifteen years, and salutes Japanese World Cup winners Yukari Kinga and Shinobu Ohno. Casey Stoney, Anouk Hoogendijk, Emma Mitchell, Caroline Weir, Jade Bailey, Bianca Bragg, Leah Williamson, Niamh Fahey, Jordan Nobbs, Christie Murray, Danielle Carter, Rachel Yankey and Freda Ayisi all get a turn, and Byrne reserves particular praise for Kelly Smith, still the best player in the league at 35.
