Maidenhead Set To Make Up For Title Loss (Amy Saunders)

Maidenhead United vice-captain Amy Saunders explains the resolve to win the Southern League title after losing out the previous year to an agonising and belated points deduction. She has been with the Magpies since their formation in 2008 out of the Burnham team, and describes the squad celebrating a 3-2 final-day win over local rivals Woodley only to learn later they were not going up, a devastation every player carries into each game this season. Highlights so far include a good FA Women’s Cup run in which they gave C&K Basildon a scare, and reaching the Berks and Bucks Cup final. The greatest threat to their record came at Parley Sports, where they went two down, were given a half-time talking-to and won 6-3.
