Lucy Graham interview: Graham Grabs Swedish Opportunity
She Kicks, issue 31, November 2015 p.34
Richard Payne catches up with Dunfermline-born Scotland midfielder Lucy Graham, who turned 19 in October and fulfilled a lifelong ambition by joining Damallsvenskan side Mallbackens IF Sunne. The move came out of the blue: she was about to leave for training when Hibernian coach Chris Roberts called to say a Swedish club had made an offer, and she talked it over with her family before deciding. Graham says no words do justice to what turning professional meant, crediting her family’s commitment and guidance, and describes settling into Sweden as straightforward having visited with the national side, though she has tried to pick up the language. She is warm about Hibs’ role in her development and says she left on good terms. The three-month deal ran to the end of October with renewal unresolved amid a relegation battle the club survived, and she remains open-minded about where she plays next.
