Lots of Notts Ambition: Rachel Unitt and Rick Passmoor interview

Tony Leighton talks to Rachel Unitt and manager Rick Passmoor as Notts County Ladies build an entirely new squad after taking over Lincoln’s FA WSL franchise. Unitt, who joined from Birmingham City, describes her recovery from the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered the previous May as a rollercoaster, requiring a second operation in August because she could not straighten her knee, and expects to be in full training by mid-March and match-fit for the season’s start. Having missed the 2012 Olympics with a foot injury and Euro 2013 through the knee, the 102-cap defender wants to help County win trophies and to make England’s squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada. Passmoor reports 13 full-time professionals and half a dozen part-timers training around a dozen times a week, says every signing has bought into the club’s vision, and notes the chairman’s target of Champions League football within three years.
