Durham’s Northern Ireland international Sarah McFadden, newly arrived from Sunderland, expects a top-four finish at worst and rates Bristol and Everton as the teams to beat, tipping team-mate Nicki Gears and fellow Northern Ireland player Simone Magill of Everton for goals while wishing for bionic legs and an injury-free season. Oxford United defender Rosie Lane, on a new two-year deal, expects a competitive division with promoted and relegated clubs reshuffling it, wants more clean sheets and her first league goal, and picks new signing Ini Umotong as one to watch. Watford striker Anneka Nuttall wants ruthlessness in front of goal and compact pressing, and welcomes the club’s new player appraisal system.
