World Sevens Football’s third edition came to Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium on 28-30 May, the first staged exclusively for Barclays WSL clubs. Eight of the 12 took part, with Arsenal, Liverpool and FA Cup finalists Manchester City and Brighton absent, playing 15-minute halves on smaller pitches with unlimited substitutions, no offsides and no draws. Chelsea and Manchester United topped the groups and met in the final, where Aggie Beever-Jones completed a hat-trick in a 6-5 win, Sjoeke Nusken, Keira Walsh and Ellie Carpenter also scoring. Beever-Jones took the Golden Ball and Boot with eight goals, Sabrina D’Angelo the Golden Glove and Rachel Maltby the Breakout Star award. West Ham’s Tuva Hansen suffered an ACL injury.
