Little Kicks: We Kick! with Leafield Athletic U11s

The junior club slot, in which Leafield Athletic’s Under-11s are quizzed by their own coach, Tracie Clements. The answers are funnier and sharper than the format suggests. Asked whether they get to play football at school, Lola and Naomi describe lunchtime and Monday break-time games they look forward to, while Sophie gives the reason it does not always happen: sometimes the boys do not like them playing. All three are unambiguous about what they say to anyone claiming girls cannot play – it makes them angry, it is not true, and they would rather prove it wrong. Elsewhere a dog runs onto the pitch mid-game, goalkeeper Brook messes about, and their coach is praised for never shouting and for bossing her assistant around. Ellen White and Lucy Bronze are the favourite Lionesses.
