Little Kicks: Scotland Star (Annie Kemp asks Zoe Ness)
She Kicks, issue 56, October 2019 pp.64–65
Twelve-year-old Annie Kemp of Brandon United, who travelled to France to watch Scotland play England and Japan, puts her own questions to Zoe Ness, and gets unusually thoughtful answers. Ness started after a flyer for a girls-only team came through the letterbox while she was concentrating on tennis, and stayed with football for the camaraderie. She is open about the hardest recent moment, missing out on the World Cup squad, and says going to France to support the team helped. Asked how it feels joining a new team, she admits she finds meeting new people nerve-wracking and tells younger readers that nerves turn into excitement once you settle, and to lead with a hello and a high five. On sexism she says she has been lucky, and friends have not been.
