Kos The Boss (Kosovare Asllani interview)

Sweden’s attacking midfielder ranks World Cup bronze alongside Olympic silver, and is clear about why a side ranked ninth finished third: team spirit, an analyst team she rates highly, and a refusal to study the United States instead of themselves. She credits head coach Peter Gerhardsson with finally playing her in the free number ten role she is best in rather than shuttling her between positions, and is unusually frank that Manchester City did the opposite and wasted her qualities, while still calling City role models for resourcing women as they do men. On joining CD Tacon before its absorption into Real Madrid she talks about building something from the start. The interview closes on advocacy: if she does not speak up, she asks, who will?
