Kerys Harrop
She Kicks, issue SK13, April 2013 p.21
Birmingham City’s club captain, interviewed just before her call-up to Hope Powell’s England squad for the Canada friendly at Rotherham on 7 April. Kerys Harrop reflects on scoring for the under-23s against the USA at La Manga in March, describing a competitive camp in which defenders must stand out. Twelve years at Birmingham, having progressed through the Centre of Excellence from the age of ten, she jokes she is due a plaque, and while she will not rule out a move she wants to keep winning things with the club she loves. Two seasons as league runners-up to Arsenal have disappointed; the Blues aim to challenge for the title and defend the FA Women’s Cup. She plays centre half for England but prefers left back, targets seven goals and names Rachel Williams the toughest opponent in training.
