Kerr Ready For New Campaign & ‘Kerrching!’: Scotland 8-0 Cyprus
She Kicks, issue 56, October 2019 p.23
Scotland began their Euro 2021 campaign by beating Cyprus 8-0 at Easter Road in front of 6,200 supporters, with Kim Little scoring five. It was their first outing since the World Cup, and Shelley Kerr was pointed about wanting the focus on football: the build-up had been dominated by reports of a clear-the-air meeting on the first day of camp following a frank June debrief. Captain Rachel Corsie addressed it head-on at the opening press conference, saying the squad had worked through it and were choosing to step forward. Kerr defended the World Cup campaign, arguing Scotland lost their first two games only marginally and were fifteen minutes from something special against Argentina, and confirmed a Scottish FA task force on investing the tournament earnings.
