Kent FA Women in Football events (County Spotlight)

She Kicks, issue SK20, April 2014 p.25

The Around the Counties slot, sponsored by Bluefin Sport, reports on a series of Kent FA events staged in the weeks before International Women’s Day. Charlotte Richardson describes a careers evening attended by more than 100 girls, covering routes into media, marketing, coaching, governance and refereeing, followed by a Women and Girls Football Roadshow opened by Rachel Pavlou, the FA’s National Women’s Football Development Manager, with contributions from James Gregory of Street Games, league secretary Mike Hanaway, Pete Sayer of the Kent FA Tesco Skills team, Gillingham Ladies footballer and England cricketer Deanna Cooper, and referee Jessica French. The fortnight culminated in a Goals for Girls festival at Kent FA headquarters, where 75 teams and more than 380 girls aged 8 to 17 played 4v4 football, with an appearance by Millwall Lionesses players and Sky Sports News coverage.
