Jen O’Neill opens on a month of football that was actually watchable – on television, radio and online – and makes the case that visibility is not only about building a fanbase but about people being able to judge who deserves the awards they vote for. She applauds Wales for a resolute draw with England in Southampton, Scotland for beating Poland and England for their patience in Bosnia, and notes that improving quality is bringing bigger crowds across Europe. Against that she sets the news that Millwall Lionesses, one of the great names of the English game, may not survive their finances, as a reminder not to get carried away. The composition of next season’s new pyramid is due on 27 May. First, though, Wembley.
