Keep Kicking (Editor’s Letter)

Jen O’Neill salutes Manchester City as the team of the moment – WSL title, Continental Cup and into the Champions League last sixteen – and Glasgow City for an unprecedented tenth successive SWPL title. Scotland’s qualification for Euro 2017, sealed with a two-one win in Iceland, gets its own feature inside. She reports on the She Kicks team curating an afternoon of women’s football content in the Love Football Zone at the Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester, with contributions from FIFA and leading clubs. The letter turns sombre for Sylvia Gore MBE, who died aged 71 having scored the first ever England women’s goal in 1972 and gone on to coach Wales and support players across Merseyside for decades.
