Kat’s Away.. (Katrine Veje Interview)

A WSL champion with Arsenal in 2019 and a standout Everton signing for her compatriot Brian Sorensen, Katrine Veje spent much of the season injured: a knee against Manchester United, then a hamstring twice in the same place. She is unusually clear about what helps, and what does not, when a player is out – people checking in is welcome, but constant football talk is not, and a week home in Denmark reset her. She grew up admiring Robben and Zidane and still dribbles like a winger from full-back. Fifteen years after an Under-17 World Cup, a senior one remains the missing piece; she could not bear to watch France 2019 from a holiday in Nice. She studies media and communications and wants to write.
