She Kicks, issue 88, February 2025 pp.34–38
Charlton Athletic forward Ellie Brazil speaks at length about her fight back from a serious ACL injury and the difficult final months of her Tottenham Hotspur career that led to a move south of the river under former Spurs joint-boss Karen Hills. She is unusually candid about the gulf between physically recovering from injury and truly feeling ‘back’ as a player, the upset rather than anger she carries from her Spurs exit, and the unusual arc of her career: emerging unexpectedly as a teenager at Birmingham City alongside Jade Moore and Ann-Katrin Berger, a testing spell in an under-professionalised Italian league with Fiorentina, and growing up through England youth squads alongside Georgia Stanway and Alessia Russo. She credits Hope Powell for insisting she continue studying while at Brighton, giving her a degree to fall back on, and discusses supporting Charlton teammate Mia Ross through her own ACL comeback. A wide-ranging, reflective career interview.
