Joelle Murray: An SK Swansong
She Kicks, issue 85, July 2024 pp.46–47
Hibernian captain and long-serving She Kicks columnist Joelle Murray reflects on a 20-year, one-club career as she announces her retirement, having led her side out for a final time at Celtic Park to a guard of honour from the home players. The 48-cap Scotland international’s haul includes two league titles, seven Scottish Cups and five League Cups, plus appearances at EURO 2017 and the 2019 World Cup. In a farewell edition of her regular column, Murray revisits a treasured Champions League night against Bayern Munich at Easter Road, a gruelling but unforgettable trip to Brazil with the national team, and the on-field partnership with centre-back Siobhan Hunter she rates as her strongest. She plans to stay involved in the Scottish game through coaching and punditry.
