Jodie Taylor, #WEURO2017 Golden Boot Winner (double-page photograph)

A double-page photograph of Jodie Taylor scoring England’s second goal against Spain in Breda, published under the legend Golden Boot Winner. It is the visual centrepiece of the issue’s Euros coverage and earns its place: Taylor’s five goals began with the first hat-trick anyone had scored at a Women’s Euros, in the 6-0 defeat of Scotland, continued with this strike, and ended with the sixtieth-minute goal that beat France for the first time in forty-three years and put England into the semi-finals. Her own account of the hat-trick, printed a few pages earlier, is that she had not known the record existed and could not remember whether the final score was five or six.
