Jess Sigsworth interview: Jess Signals Intent (Road to Canada 2014)

A Road to Canada profile of Jess Sigsworth, with England Under-20 goalkeeper Lizzie Durack on questioning duty ahead of the World Cup in Canada from 5 to 24 August. The Doncaster Rovers Belles midfielder and forward, a former Sheffield United player born in Doncaster, discusses the squad’s close bond and desire to learn and impress, recalling an unbeaten run that ended only in the Under-19 European final in Wales, where France scored twice in the second half of extra time in what she calls a heartbreaking defeat. Asked what she will pack for Canada she says her boots and shin pads are all she needs. She describes plenty of downtime at tournament camps, with team bonding activities such as cinema trips. A factfile records fifteen Under-19 caps and five goals.
