Celtic’s Amy Gallacher reflects on a remarkable 2023-24 season that saw her score the 90th-minute winner against Hibernian to swing the SWPL1 title from Rangers to Celtic, before a first-ever Champions League group-stage campaign under head coach Elena Sadiku added a new dimension to this season. Now playing a deeper role after cementing herself as the Ghirls’ Players’ Player of the Year, Gallacher discusses adjusting her game, facing elite opposition including Chelsea and Real Madrid, and meeting Rod Stewart in the away dressing room at Stamford Bridge. There’s rich family history too: her great-grandfather Patsy Gallacher remains a Celtic legend for a spectacular 1925 Scottish Cup final goal, while her father’s cousin Kevin Gallacher won Scotland caps as a forward. A warm, detailed portrait of a player carrying genuine footballing heritage into a genuinely historic season for her club.
