It’s Now, Not Never… (Angharad James interview)

Angharad James is packing up a flat, planning a wedding and finishing a WSL season all at once, with a move to North Carolina Courage waiting on the other side. She insisted on seeing out her Reading contract before flying, and says her agent’s call before Christmas was completely unexpected. Going to America was a childhood dream and, at 26, she judged it now or never; she will be only the second Wales player after Jess Fishlock in the league. Her fiancee Amy Turner told her from the first minute to go. She is warm about Reading’s coaching staff, mournful about Wales missing Euro 2022 and about Jayne Ludlow’s departure, and vivid on facing Caroline Graham Hansen and Dzsenifer Marozsan. She also remembers being paid twenty pounds a game at Bristol Academy.
