International News: WEURO2022 – 500 Days To Go and the Qualified Nations

To mark 500 days until kick-off, UEFA unveils a new look for Women’s Euro 2022 and She Kicks prints the state of qualification. The tournament in England will run from 6 to 31 July 2022. Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Spain and Sweden have secured their places by winning their groups, with Austria, Iceland and Italy progressing as the three best runners-up. Three places remain, to be decided over two legs: Ukraine against Northern Ireland, Portugal against Russia, and the Czech Republic against Switzerland. They join hosts England and the holders, the Netherlands. It is a small item that captures the whole shape of the field at a fixed date, including the play-off tie that would give Northern Ireland their first major tournament.
