Ifeoma Dieke interview: Iffy Is Back

She Kicks, issue SK22, July 2014 p.14

Becky Wilkins interviews Ifeoma Dieke, the American-born Scotland centre back now playing in the Damallsvenskan with Vittsjo GIK after a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament ended her 2012 Olympic campaign with Team GB. The 33-year-old describes recovery and rehabilitation as an emotional rollercoaster, crediting Scottish physiotherapist Johanne Wilson McLean, who arranged surgery and rehab so that all Dieke had to do was show up, and Anna Signeul for keeping her involved with the national team. She calls the Damallsvenskan a genuinely tough league in which the gap between teams has closed, praises the more laid-back Swedish coaching approach, and says having three Scottish team-mates in Sweden is a home from home. On the Sweden defeat she notes the goals came from Scotland’s own mistakes.
