Hammer Time: Julian Dicks interview (West Ham United Ladies new manager)

Wilf Frith interviews Julian Dicks, the former West Ham defender nicknamed The Terminator, after his appointment as manager of West Ham United Ladies. Dicks explains that he did not coach for around eighteen months after retiring through injury at 29 because he was bitter, but has since coached age groups from Under-8s to adults and worked in Malaysia, Indonesia and America. He describes being called in by a friend to keep Wivenhoe FC in their league, a job he completed and is proud of, and says managing West Ham Ladies was too good an opportunity to turn down. Candid about his limited knowledge of the women’s game, he says he will not try to blag it, wants his side to press high and play the West Ham way, and will measure success by individual and collective improvement.
