Grace McCatty

She Kicks, issue SK13, April 2013 pp.28–29

Bristol Academy’s under-23 England defender details a formidable workload. Grace McCatty is joint head coach of the club’s Centre of Excellence under-15s and assistant coach at the University of Bath women’s team, a role taken up so she could stay involved after graduating, and on Friday evenings a youth leader at OneGen, the young people’s department of One Church Gloucester. She works full-time for British Colleges Sport as Regional Sport Co-ordinator for the South West, and has become a trustee of the charity Umutima, overseeing the Chawama SEE project building a school in a deprived rural community in Zambia. She trains most days, keeps an old-school paper diary and admits she sometimes forgets to eat. Her aims are the Bristol starting eleven, a top-three finish, an FA Cup final and an England senior camp; she welcomes Laura Del Rio’s return.
