Goalgetter: Suits Ziu! (Jessica Ziu, Shelbourne)

Jessica Ziu scored twice in an Irish national under-16 final at thirteen and has been making headlines since. She made her senior FAI Women’s National League debut in the week of her sixteenth birthday, and in October 2020 took a hat-trick away at Wexford Youths and was named the league’s player of the month. She names speed and skill as her strengths, physical strength as a work in progress, and communication as the thing she is deliberately working on. The favourite goals are a chip against Peamount United, a first hat-trick against Kilkenny United, a free-kick against Ukraine and a decisive header against Turkey. Plenty of American colleges have been in touch and people think her mad to decline; her plan is simply to turn professional in England.
