Genero Adran Trophy 2023: Cardiff Met 3-1 Cardiff City

Holders Cardiff Met beat their capital rivals Cardiff City for a second successive season to retain the Genero Adran Trophy at the SDM Glass Stadium in Bridgend. City arrived unbeaten in the Adran Premier and chasing a treble, and tested Amelia Forkings in the Met goal repeatedly, but the Archers held firm behind a brand-new formation with five at the back. Erin Murray scored twice, the first from the penalty spot, to build a 2-0 half-time lead; City skipper Siobhan Walsh pulled one back from the spot before the speedy Ellie Preece, named player of the match, settled it at 3-1. Captain Steph Turner singled out Preece’s pace and finishing. It was a farewell win for manager Yzzy Taylor, who stepped down after eleven years.
