Game Ready: Kirsty Hanson
She Kicks, issue 61, June 2020 pp.52–53
A Game Ready instalment from the SK Locker Room with Manchester United forward and Scotland international Kirsty Hanson. She always has scrambled or poached eggs on toast with beans and avocado, plus a coffee, before a match, and follows no rituals beyond stretching and band work on the morning of a game. If it is an away fixture her roommate is Leah Galton, whom she dances and sings at to get them both raring to go, a habit she does not extend to Scotland duty. Hanson listens to upbeat songs to prepare mentally, admits to frequent nerves and moves around the changing room talking to teammates rather than sitting in one spot. Millie Turner is Manchester United’s main joker, with Claire Emslie and a low-key Hannah Godfrey filling that role for Scotland. She watches games back and asks her parents’ opinion after a poor performance.
