Game Ready: Hayley Lauder

A Game Ready instalment from the SK Locker Room takeover with Glasgow City midfielder Hayley Lauder, a winner of a hatful of titles with her club and more than 100 caps for Scotland. She describes a matchday routine of porridge and coffee before an early kick-off, eggs as well if it is later, no rituals, and a nine or half-past nine wake-up before a two o’clock start. On international duty there are walks, meetings and the bus journey, where Lisa Evans, Emma Mitchell and Lee Alexander pick the music. Lauder admits to more nerves for internationals than for Glasgow City but treats them as a positive, visualising the game and talking it out. Emma Mitchell, Lisa Evans, Jo Love and Leanne Crichton are her go-to people. Afterwards she goes home, eats and watches football, using pool work and a foam roller to recover.
