Gallery: Snaps and Action from WSL 1 and 2, 9 July – 28 August 2016

A double-page photographic gallery covering FA WSL 1 and 2 matches played between 9 July and 28 August 2016, the stretch either side of the Olympic break. As with every other picture spread in this run of the magazine the images carry hashtag captions rather than names: #PING, #STRETCH, #SHADOWS and #NOT LISTENING on the first page, then #HUGS, #TAKE, #HAPPYMUCH, #YOUYESYOU, #BLUEISTHECOLOUR, #AIRBORNE and #LOVINGHEADLOCK on the second – a long pass, a stretch, a hug, a headlock, an airborne challenge. No player is identified anywhere on the spread, the hashtags standing in for conventional captions. Photographs are credited to FA via Getty Images. The equivalent Scottish gallery on pages 32 and 33 of the same issue, by contrast, does name its players in the captions.
