A two-page photographic gallery covering the opening fortnight of the 2017 WSL 1 and 2 Spring Series, from 16 to 30 April. The images are captioned only with hashtags, which give the spread its character: crumbs, passion, team, ice creams, shadows, team talk, tumbles, tight marking, kick it out, another gear and a nod to two Yeovil Towns sharing a frame. No players are named in the captions; the spread is a mood piece for a competition invented to bridge the switch from summer to winter seasons rather than a report of particular matches. Photography is credited to FA via Getty Images and to Susan Gutteridge, who supplies much of the magazine’s regular non-agency coverage.
