Frankie Brown interview: Frankie Goes to Bristol
She Kicks, issue SK21, June 2014 p.18
Richard Payne interviews Frankie Brown after the Scotland defender left childhood club Hibernian following eight years, having completed her PhD and taken up a research position at Bath University before signing for FA WSL side Bristol Academy. Brown says the move let her combine work and a long-held wish to play in the league, and calls leaving Hibs a natural progression, her biggest highlight being the supportive family atmosphere through good times and bad at a club that once had to line the pitch with flour. She finds the games more competitive south of the border, with over 1,300 fans at her first home match. Looking ahead to Scotland’s crucial meeting with Sweden, the 58-cap full-back says her side have nothing to lose, a great goal difference and massive belief.
