Foreign Kicks: Sisters Re-United for Portugal – Adriana Rodrigues interview

The Foreign Kicks slot, written by Wilf Frith, features Florida-born Adriana Rodrigues of Swiss National League A side FC Neunkirch, who played for Brazil at the 2008 South American U-17 Championship before switching allegiance to Portugal in 2011 to play alongside her sister. Rodrigues explains that holding three passports and growing up among different cultures means she would feel at home representing any of them, but that her heart beats for Portugal. She describes representing Brazil at World Cup qualifiers in Chile as an amazing experience and says she was ready to continue internationally wherever the road led. Her sister Andrea was capped by Portugal first, and following that lead she switched to the U-19 side before earning a full call-up. Neunkirch scored 19 goals in their first three games, and her stated ambition remains playing in a World Cup.
