Foreign Kicks: Mittag Making her Mark (Anja Mittag interview)

Germany forward Anja Mittag has won another Damallsvenskan title with Rosengard, finishing as the division’s top scorer and Most Valuable Player for the second time. Left out of Silvia Neid’s squad for the 2011 home World Cup, she returned to score the winner in the Euro 2013 final and topped Germany’s scoring in a flawless World Cup qualifying campaign with eleven goals. She is satisfied with a group containing Norway, Thailand and the Ivory Coast, and says the greatest pressure comes from within the squad, which wants to handle expectation better than four years ago. On Wembley she is generous about the organisation and about England’s start, while noting Germany took control. Of Marta’s arrival at Rosengard, she says having her already earns respect from opponents.
