Foreign Kicks: Italian Jobs (Lana Clelland, Rachel Harrison and Paige Williams)

She Kicks, issue 34, April 2016 pp.39–41

Chris Brookes tracks three British players in the Italian top flight. Perth-born striker Lana Clelland, contacted by an Italian agent through social media in 2014, joined a struggling Bari, scored eleven league goals and moved to UPC Tavagnacco, where seven league and ten cup goals have boosted her Scotland claims; she now gives interviews in Italian. Edinburgh goalkeeper Rachel Harrison, a Spartans veteran of more than a hundred games, followed her to AGSM Verona and takes three Italian lessons a week. Liverpool-born Paige Williams left Everton for ACF Brescia after they saw her in the Champions League, and has scored four goals as a left wing-back. A boxed panel lists British predecessors in Italy from Rose Reilly onwards.
